Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Started in 1975 when five baby Elephants were rescued from jungle without their mother, now believed to be one of the largest Elephants Orphanage in the world. the orphanage was primarily designed to afford care and protection to the many baby Elephants found in the jungle without their mother. these 24 acres large Elephants Orphanage is a also breeding place of elephants. there have 20 Elephants born in the Orphanage since 1984.
